During the pandemic, our family was searching for a deeper purpose and a more meaningful connection with the food we eat. We rented a 2.5-acre property on Princess Way in Kissimmee, Florida, just 15 minutes from Walt Disney World, and that is where the story of Princess Flock began.

What started with a small flock of hens became a mission: to create a local farm that would bring families closer to their food, reconnect people with the farmer behind the product, and offer eggs produced with care, respect, and passion.

From the very beginning, we knew we were not just producing eggs. We were building a brand around trust, quality, and a meaningful farm-to-table experience.

At Princess Flock, we designed our packaging around the way a local farm produces, packs, and delivers fresh eggs.

Instead of using five separate 12-egg cartons, we use recycled paper egg flats holding 30 eggs — the equivalent of 2½ dozen. This simple change makes our farm operation more efficient while reducing packaging materials, storage space, and waste.

Our 30-egg recycled paper flats are designed specifically for a more efficient, practical, and sustainable farm-to-table operation. Packing 60 eggs (5 dozen) in two flats takes us approximately 50% less time than packing the same quantity into five individual 12-egg cartons. The flats are also easier for customers to stack and store, use no plastic, and require no branded adhesive or glue.

But the biggest advantage is what happens after you receive your farm-fresh eggs. With the cooperation of our customers, Princess Flock operates a reverse logistics and packaging reuse program. We estimate that approximately 50% of our flats are reused at least three times, keeping packaging in circulation instead of immediately becoming waste.

When we have surplus reusable flats, we also make them available to other small egg producers throughout Central Florida, helping extend their useful life within our local farming community.

For us, this is more than egg packaging. It is part of our commitment to sustainable packaging, circular economy principles, local agriculture, farm-to-table food, and direct relationships between consumers and local farmers.
